Flip4Mac – Play Windows Media Files on Mac / Quick Time Player

WMV is a very popular video format developed by Microsoft. However, for Mac users, it’s a little bit head-scratching for them to play, edit WMV files and to upload them to iTunes because its compatibility with Mac system is not very satisfying.

With Windows Media Components for QuickTime, by Flip4Mac, you can play Windows Media files (.wma and .wmv) directly in QuickTime Player and view Windows Media content on the Internet using a Web browser.

Flip4Mac WMV can be used with most of your favorite QuickTime applications including QuickTime Player, iMovie 6 (iMovie ’08 is not supported at this time) and Final Cut Pro. Also High – Definition Video Playback is supported.

Windows Media playback components are provided for free. However you can upgrade to advance version by paying a small fee. The advance version will let you do more stuff with wma and wmv files, like – Move Windows media video files into your iphone, ipad or ipod, import windows media file for editing and create windows media file for distribution.

Note: It obviously requires Mac OS X to install. And you need to make sure that your Mac OS X user account has read and write access.
